If you follow us on instagram then you will probably have seen our latest adventure, which was too the amazing city of Muscat in Oman.

This beautiful country not only offers year round sunshine and luxury hotels, but also a dramatic landscape filled with waves of sand, ornate mosques and age old traditions.

Having been lucky enough to have visited its neighbors both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, I was amazed to find how different Oman is. Oman has remained a wonderfully authentic little known to mass tourism.

If Oman is relatively unknown as a tourist destination, it is even less famous as a dive destination. We decided to take a boat trip out to one of the many deserted islands that are dotted around Muscat and do some snorkeling; I was blown away by what I was about to see. It was an underwater paradise and I had never seen so many unusual looking fish and sea life before and I have been snorkeling around many exotic locations around the world but this was by far the best. The most amazing part was when we spotted some beautiful sea turtles swimming beside us it was a truly magical experience and one that I will never forget. As well as turtles, the sea around Oman is home to dolphins and whales along with colorful corals, rays and a hue range of fish.

The first thing you notice about Muscat is – compared to its brash neighbour Dubai- the lack of skyscrapers. Oman’s capital still feels like a real place, with a proud sense of history. There’s plenty to see, including lots of forts, the Muttrah souk, I was told that the souk would be hassle free and that as a women dressing modestly I would have no problems but be advised I did feel slightly uncomfortable walking around here so my advise to any women is wear trousers and long sleeves. The souk is great for finding pashminas, spices, frankincense and gold.

The city certainly has some magnificent buildings, like the astonishing grand mosque, where the prayer hall boats the largest chandelier in the world featuring eight and a half tones of Swarovski crystals. As you know here at Diamond Beach we love Swarovski crystals and our Sunny cove midi dresses are adorned with real Swarovski crystals.

Muscat is not short of luxury hotels we stayed at the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah resort and spa. This is one of Oman’s biggest hotels. It encompasses three hotels set around one uninhabited bay. We stayed in the central hotel of the three, which was called the Al Bahr, I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel compared to its neighboring hotel Al Waha which is geared up as a family friendly hotel so expect lots of children in this one. Our hotel had lots of pools, a dozen restaurants including the Middle Eastern themed Al Tanoor; we loved the seafood at the Bait Al bahr restuarnt. Every Friday evening the hotel hosts its traditional Quandeel camp, which is an Authentic Omani cultural experience with traditional dishes, handcrafts, music and entertainment. The hotel also offers loads of activities we tried the paddle boarding and the boat trip out to the island again I would definitely recommend this.

So the all-important question is what to pack for this fabulous trip to Oman.
